Milies, Pelion
Milies is a charming village in Pelion, offering a mix of culture, nature, and easy access to the sea. Key highlights include the historic Milies Train Station, where the famous Pelion steam train "Moutzouris" begins its scenic journey, the Public Library of Milies (one of Greece's oldest), and the Church of Taxiarches. The village square, shaded by ancient plane trees, is a great spot for enjoying local cafés and tavernas. Numerous walking and hiking trails start from the village, winding through lush forests and offering stunning panoramic views. Despite its mountain location, Milies is only 10-15 minutes by car from the beaches of the Pagasetic Gulf and less than an hour from Aegean Sea beaches like Kalamaki, Potistika, and Mylopotamos. The village is also close to other picturesque Pelion villages, including Tsagarada, Makrinitsa, and Portaria, and about 35-40 minutes from Volos for a day trip. During winter, the Pelion Ski Center is accessible within an hour, making Milies a year-round destination.
